A divorce settlement, the written contract between divorcing spouses outlining their rights and responsibilities, can greatly impact your life moving forward and can have long-term financial effects.

Divorce Services Offered in the Legal Process

Even with the best intentions during divorce proceedings, ending a marriage in divorce is never as simple as petitioning for divorce even when spouses agree to an uncontested divorce. Marriage is a contractual agreement, and as such, many aspects need to be resolved to reach a fair, equitable outcome. We can help:

  • Determine Child Support and Custody. In marriages involving children, this can be one of the most pivotal and challenging issues of a divorce. Our legal team will help you and your spouse work through child custody arrangements.
  • Spousal Maintenance. Often referred to as alimony, maintenace refers to the monetary payment from one spouse to another after the marriage ends. Spousal maintenance is not mandatory in the State of Colorado, but if a strong case is made for support, the court may determine the need for maintenance. Regardless of your circumstances, we will represent your interest in negotiating a fair settlement.
  • Division of Marital Assets. Our legal experts will work to provide a full accounting of all marital assets and debt to reach an equitable or “fair” division of property. This includes discovery and investigation, if you believe a spouse is shielding money or property.
  • Asset Valuation. Some assets are difficult to determine a value. In such cases, expert valuations and testimony may be needed to determine asset worth to form a part of a fair divorce settlement.
  • Real Estate Holdings. During divorce proceedings, both spouses may continue to live in their home during this period. If multiple properties are owned, we will help create resolution of how to split the properties and assets in an equitable manner.
